SUMMATIVE MATHEMATICS

The Winsight® summative mathematics assessment will measure grade specific mathematical content knowledge and the application of the mathematical practices of argumentation and modeling. The assessment will comprise a range of item types including selected response, technology enhanced, and constructed response with numeric entry, graphing, and extended-text items with equation editors

The test will measure a student’s procedural knowledge and their ability to solve problems using fundamental concepts and reasoning skills. The test will also assess a student’s ability to engage in the mathematical practices of argumentation and modeling through the lens of grade-level appropriate mathematical content.

MAPPING TO COMMON CORE STANDARDS

The Winsight summative mathematics assessment consists of two sections: content and mathematical practice. The content section of the test measures the content knowledge and skills described by the content evidence statements, derived from the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) at each grade.

The Mathematical Practices section of the test measures a student’s ability to engage in the mathematical practices of argumentation and modeling. These items require students to construct or analyze an argument related to the content, or use the content to solve a real-world problem.

All sections of the assessment will be designed to meet your state’s standards.

TASK TYPES

The assessment will contain items that are classified into three task types:

CONTENT-BASED ITEMS

These measure one or more content evidence statements and are machine-scored.

MODELING ITEMS

These measure one or more content evidence statements and one or more argumentation evidence statements and could either be machine-scored or human-scored. For these items students must engage in the practice of argumentation to be awarded full credit

ARGUMENTATION ITEMS

These measure one or more content evidence statements and one or more modeling evidence statements and could be either machine-scored or human-scored.  For these items students must engage in the practice of modeling to be awarded full credit
