SUMMATIVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

The Winsight® summative English language arts (ELA) assessment covers content knowledge and skills in five domains: Reading Literature, Reading Informational Text, Writing, Language, and Listening. The assessment will comprise a range of item types, including selected response, technology enhanced, short constructed response and one extended constructed response. It provides evidence of a test taker’s ability to comprehend, interpret and analyze a variety of sources and to communicate through writing in a variety of modes and genres.

MAPPING TO COMMON CORE STANDARDS

ALIGNED TO YOUR STANDARDS

The Winsight ELA evidence statements align closely with the Common Core State Standards and will be designed to meet your state’s standards, both in content and in organization. We expect that this close alignment will allow for precise measurement of students’ knowledge and skills related to the majority of your state’s literacy standards from grades 3–high school.

REPORTS FOR EACH MAJOR CONTENT STRAND

Student performance results will be reported for each major content strand: Literature and Informational Text Reading, Writing, and Language. In addition, Winsight will include a Listening category to assess targeted skills from the Listening and Speaking strand in your state’s standards.
