WHAT IS THE WINSIGHT® PROGRAM?
Created by ETS and delivered by Questar, the Winsight program is a configurable, K-12 assessment program envisioned from the ground up to inform instruction and empower educators , students and parents. Get an overview of the Winsight program.
HOW DOES THE WINSIGHT PROGRAM WORK?
K-12 assessment that helps everybody win.
The Winsight program integrates summative and benchmark components to address the needs of everybody, throughout the school year. And for states that desire classroom tools that inform students and teachers daily, Winsight provides the opportunity for states and their educators to participate, along with ETS in the ongoing development and piloting of classroom solutions.
WHY ARE WE REIMAGINING K-12 ASSESSMENT?
When it comes to helping students succeed, everyone has a role to play. However, in the current educational environment, everyone is still struggling with getting the balance right. States need to reckon with evolving policies and standards. Students need less stress and frustration with testing. Teachers need to ensure their time and efforts are being spent most effectively.
We believe assessment as it exists today does not do enough to address this. We need to reimagine assessment so that everybody wins. This is the vision for Winsight working alongside school, district and state partners.

WHY IS MULTI-STAGE ADAPTIVE TESTING THE ANSWER?
Winsight uses an approach called multi-stage adaptive testing that seeks to bridge the gap between a fixed-form assessment and a highly-complex item-adaptive model.
In multi-stage adaptive testing, item sets are fixed, but students are routed to the item set appropriate to their ability level based on an initial set of questions. This approach leads to an ideal blend of control and adaptability that helps both states and students win.
BENEFITS OF MULTISTAGE TESTING
Increased student engagement
Greater control of test content
Adapts to student’s level
More meaningful data
WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF THE WINSIGHT SYSTEM?
The Winsight program is made up of three components, each with unique benefits.
Summative
Year-end assessments that evaluate against state standards
Benchmark
Periodic assessments that provide snapshots of a class and progress towards the end of year assessment
Forthcoming Classroom Suite
We believe in a future where assessment and learning are not discrete activities. We want to work with states to reach that future where everybody wins.
